Injunctions
Injunctions are an urgent remedy used to preserve or prevent the loss of an asset or safeguard business or personal interests. Examples include preventing the publication of private information, preserving confidential material and trade secrets, delivering up information/goods and preventing an ongoing breach of contract. Injunctions are usually sought and obtained where irreparable damage may be caused if not dealt with immediately.
Injunctions either prevent an individual or business from doing something or compels them to do something. Where there is an urgent need, an interim injunction can be obtained pending a further hearing or until the conclusion of a dispute at court.
If you are served with an injunction you must ensure that you do not do anything which might breach its terms as a breach of an injunction can lead to a fine or imprisonment.
